Rehabilitation of our overburden disposal areas is an important part of what we do at Winstone. At Belmont, we have already rehabilitated approximately 19 hectares of land within the site boundary.

It’s important to note rehabilitation does not mean returning the land to exactly how it was, as the landscape will be substantially changed. However, our focus is on reestablishing the same look and feel. This involves re-grassing and/or replanting the overburden site in stages with the same trees and vegetation that fit with the environment and landscape.

As part of our fast-track application we will be providing a full rehabilitation plan, covering the expected 40-year life span of the quarry expansion.

We will publish summary of that plan here once it is available.
